Terms of Service

The agreement for creating a Savorible account and publishing a food blog on it.

Last updated .

The agreement

These Terms of Service are the agreement between you and Savorible for using the Savorible website, the hosted food-blog software, and related services (together, the Service).

By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 18 years old, and able to form a contract, to create an account.

The service

Savorible is hosted food-blog software. You create one food blog on an account, write recipes and other posts in the editor, and — while a subscription is paying for hosting — that blog is served to readers at an address on savorible.com.

Hosting, SSL, backups, photo storage and software updates are part of the Service. There is one plan, not a set of tiers. Import, export, and more than one writer on a blog are not part of the Service.

We may change, suspend or discontinue parts of the Service. If a change would materially affect paying customers, we will say so in the product or by email where we reasonably can.

Your account

You are responsible for the email address and password on the account, and for what is done while signed in. Keep the password to yourself. Tell us if you think someone else has used the account.

One account has one food blog. The subscription pays for that blog rather than for a person, so it sits with the blog.

We may access an account to operate the Service, to investigate abuse, or to help when you ask for support. Staff impersonation, when it happens, is an operations tool — it is not a second login you can share.

Your recipes and photos

You own the recipes, words, photos and other material you put on your food blog (your content). Savorible hosts and publishes it on your blog; it does not take ownership of it, and it does not publish it anywhere but your own food blog.

You grant Savorible a limited license to host, store, display, back up and transmit your content solely so we can provide the Service — including showing it to readers of a public or unlisted blog, generating page metadata and recipe structured data from what you filled in, and resizing photos so pages load.

You are responsible for your content. You confirm that you have the rights to publish it, that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights, and that it is not illegal. That includes photos: upload pictures you took or otherwise have permission to use.

There is no self-service export yet. You may copy your own work out of the editor. Nothing is deleted merely because you cancel or because a trial ends; the work stays in the account and comes back if you subscribe again.

Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to:

  • break the law, or publish content that is illegal where you or we operate
  • infringe copyright, trademarks or other rights
  • impersonate someone else, or mislead readers about who wrote the blog
  • attack, scrape or overload the Service, or interfere with other people’s blogs or accounts
  • send spam, or use an account as a bulk-mail or malware host
  • attempt to access another account, or any part of the Service you are not allowed

We may remove content, take a blog offline, or close an account that breaks these rules. If we can, we will tell you; we may not if the law or the safety of others requires otherwise.

Trial, billing and cancellation

You can create an account and build a food blog for 30 days without a card. A subscription is what puts the blog on the public web. If you subscribe while the trial is still running, you are not charged until the trial would have ended anyway.

The subscription is $25 / month, or $250 / year if you pay for a year at once.

Payment is processed by Stripe. Savorible does not store your full card number. Prices are in US dollars. Taxes, if they apply, are handled at checkout.

You may cancel at any time from the billing portal, reached from Billing in your dashboard. The blog stays online until the end of the period you have already paid for. Cancelling does not refund the remainder of that period. For anything unusual, contact support.

If a payment fails, Stripe retries according to its own schedule. While a subscription is past due we may keep the blog online; if it is cancelled or unpaid, the blog stops being served and the dashboard becomes read-only. Nothing is deleted.

Privacy and your readers

How we collect and use information is in the Privacy Policy, which is part of this agreement.

A hosted food blog may set first-party analytics cookies so you can see roughly how many people visited. Those cookies do not identify a reader by name or email. You are responsible for any additional tracking you add yourself — Savorible does not currently offer a way to add third-party analytics to a customer blog, and visits to customer blogs are not sent into Savorible’s own marketing analytics.

Availability

We aim to keep the Service running, but we do not promise uninterrupted access, and we do not promise that every feature will remain exactly as it is. Scheduled work, faults, third-party outages (hosting, payments, email, image storage) and events outside our control can take parts of the Service down.

Recipe pages, search appearance and structured data are generated from what you enter. We do not promise any particular ranking in search engines.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided as it is and as available. To the fullest extent the law allows, Savorible disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Recipes, nutrition information and cooking advice on a hosted blog are the author’s, not ours.

We are not responsible for content on a customer’s food blog, for a reader’s use of a recipe, or for links a blog owner adds to other sites.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Savorible is not liable for lost profits, lost content, search-ranking changes, substitute hosting, or any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, whether or not we were told they were possible.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits; in those places, they apply only as far as the law allows.

Closing an account

You may stop using the Service at any time. Cancelling a subscription is not the same as deleting the account: there is no self-service deletion yet. To have the account and its data removed, contact support.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that we are required to close by law, or that has been abandoned after a long period with no subscription and no activity. We will try to warn you first where that is reasonable.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page is when they last changed. If a change is material, we will say so in the product or by email to the address on the account. Continuing to use the Service after the updated terms apply means you accept them. If you do not, stop using the Service and cancel the subscription.

Contact

Questions about these terms: contact support. That is the same inbox as the rest of Savorible support. The Privacy Policy covers personal information.
